Biography Turid Gaedeke-Riegel, a native of Boise, Idaho, holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, with an emphasis in string teaching concentration, from Arizona State University, and a Master of Arts in Music Education from The Ohio State University, where she served as the Graduate Teaching Associate for Dr. Robert Gillespie. Mrs. Riegel has twelve years of experience teaching public school strings/orchestra in grades 4-12 in Arizona and Ohio. Soloists and ensembles in her orchestras typically received the most outstanding ratings during her tenure.
Mrs. Riegel has over 20 years of experience teaching private violin/viola lessons. Many of her students are/have been members of the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras (CSYO-Junior Strings, Chamber Strings, Repertory, and Youth Orchestra), Dublin Youth Strings Orchestra (DYSO), Chamber Music Connection (CMC), Youth Philharmonic of Central Ohio (YPCO), OMEA Region and All-State Orchestras, and have attended various summer workshops and camps. Her violin teachers have included Leah Telford, Dr. Marla Mutschler, and Michael Davis. Her viola teachers have included Edward Adelson. Mrs. Riegel is Suzuki certified in violin books 1-4 and has taken post-collegiate teacher training workshops from Master Teachers Rhonda Cole, Barbara Barber, and Mimi Zweig. Mrs. Riegel is a member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA). Mrs. Riegel has served on faculty at Ohio Wesleyan University where she taught string methods for several years. Additionally, she has presented sessions at The Ohio State University Midwest String Teachers Workshop. A violinist and violist, Mrs. Riegel is associate concertmaster and first violinist with the Newark-Granville Symphony, former violinist with Arizona Opera, has performed with Paragon Music and Entertainment and with Ashland, Mansfield, Westerville, and Central Ohio Symphony Orchestras, Opera Project Columbus, St. Joseph’s Cathedral Concert Series, and Trinity Lutheran Concert Series, and the Columbus Chamber Singers. Mrs. Riegel also freelances on violin and viola in the greater Columbus area for weddings and special events. Turid lives in Hilliard with her husband, John, also an orchestra director. In her spare time, Mrs. Riegel enjoys working out at the gym, reading, gardening, and attending arts festivals! |
